A new ‘Event’ picture helmed by Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan will be released by Warner Bros. Discovery. Together, Coogler, coming off Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the MCU sequel, and Jordan, who recently made his directorial debut with Creed III, will craft a distinctive interpretation of a “period thriller centering on vampires”.
The release date of March 7, 2025, was given to us without a cast or title yet. Filming for this IMAX event picture is set to start in New Orleans shortly. Jordan and director Coogler collaborated on Fruitvale Station, Coogler’s directorial debut, before going on to release four more films together, this one being the fifth.
Following a bidding war, Warner Bros. won the movie in February under a special arrangement that will allow Coogler to regain partial rights to the film after a number of years. Coogler is one of the most sought-after directors in the business since the Rocky franchise was revived.
The only other information we have is that Ludwig Goransson will be scoring the film, fresh off of his Oscar win with the score from best picture winner, Oppenheimer.
