This week is filled with much more eagerly awaited movies than those from last week. We have an early spring franchise blockbuster, a pair of SXSW standouts, and some re-releases of some favorites. These are the movies you can watch this coming weekend.

Road House (Amazon Prime Video)
A middleweight fighter who used to compete in the UFC finds himself employed at a roadhouse in the Florida Keys where things are not what they seem. Doug Liman is the director of the 2024 American action movie Road House.
The film is a remake of the same-named movie from 1989. Jake Gyllenhaal stars with Conor McGregor in his feature film debut. As with the first, Joel Silver is the film’s producer.
Road House debuted globally on March 8, 2024, as the opening night film at South by Southwest. On March 21, Amazon MGM Studios premieres the film on Prime Video.

The Boy and the Heron (Re-Release)
The Boy and the Heron from Studio Ghibli is the first of two highlighted re-releases. The Boy and the Heron, which won Best Animated Feature at the Oscars, is coming back to theaters, giving you another opportunity to experience Hayao Miyazaki’s most recent picture on a big screen.
Known as a “big fantastical film,” it centers on a young boy named Mahito Maki during the Pacific War who, following the death of his mother, travels to the country, finds an abandoned tower next to his new home, and ventures into a magical world where a talking grey heron lives.
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire
This weekend sees the release of the fifth Ghostbusters movie, the fourth picture in the canonical series, and one of the year’s early blockbusters. Following Ghostbusters: Afterlife in 2021, Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, and Finn Wolfhard reprise their roles, while Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts, and William Atherton are set to come back to the series.
Two years after the events of Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the seasoned Ghostbusters and their new recruits must team up to defend New York City against a terrifying foe who wants to amass a spirit army. On March 22, see Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire in cinemas.
Immaculate
American psychological horror movie Immaculate was written and directed by Andrew Lobel and Michael Mohan. The movie stars Sydney Sweeney, who is arguably the most well-known young actress in Hollywood right now after her roles in Madame Web and Anyone but You, a romantic comedy starring Top Gun star Glen Powell. On March 12, 2024, Immaculate made its North American premiere at South by Southwest. On March 22, 2024, Neon is set to distribute the film in North America.
Pixar’s Luca (Re-Release)
Luca from Pixar is our other highlighted re-release. The video narrates a charming tale of a teenage sea monster boy who, upon reaching shore, changes into a human. The 2021 animated film received positive reviews when it debuted on Disney+. Yet Luca never saw a legitimate theatrical release in the United States because of the pandemic. Luca is the third animated film to be re-released in theaters, along with Soul and Turning Red, earlier this year.
