After years of being mired in development hell, The Crow reboot has finally given us a look into the adaptation and vision that director Rupert Sanders is aiming for. Lionsgate unveiled the first trailer for The Crow on Thursday. The film is slated for release on June 7th and features a bloodied Bill Skarsgård who is determined to get revenge for his murder.
Inspired by James O’Barr’s 1989 limited comic book series of the same name, the script was co-written by Zach Baylin and Will Schneider. It is a reboot of the first film in the The Crow film series and will be the fifth chapter. In the movie, Bill Skarsgård plays The Crow, also known as Eric Draven, a slain singer who rises from the dead to exact revenge for him and his fiancée, played by FKA Twigs.
This adds another installment to Skarsgård’s roster of genre character adaptations. He is best known for portraying Pennywise the Clown in It and for his reprisal in It: Chapter Two. At different stages of development, Bradley Cooper, Luke Evans, Jack Huston, and Jason Momoa were all cast as Eric Draven, giving the impression that the movie was cursed. In April 2022, Skarsgård and Sanders announced their appointments as Draven and director. Filming went underway in Prague and Penzing, close to Munich, that July.
