The first official Fallout trailer has recently been released, bringing the latest video game adaptation into the spotlight. Regardless of the response from fans, Amazon Prime does not shy away from taking on a well-loved intellectual property. This was seen in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, which defied expectations and had the biggest budget of any television program last year despite receiving unfavorable reviews. The Bethesda video game series Fallout represents the latest attempt at franchise capitalization. In 2020, Amazon acquired the production rights and revealed the live-action project in July of that same year.
The show depicts survivors of a post-apocalyptic nuclear exchange seeking refuge in underground bunkers called Vaults, which were constructed to protect humanity in the event of a nuclear war. Two centuries later, a young lady ventures out into the extremely hazardous and ferocious Wasteland of a devastated Los Angeles, leaving behind the only life she has ever known.
The first three episodes of the television series will be helmed by Jonathan Nolan, co-creator of Westworld, whose brother, the renowned Christopher Nolan, just won numerous Oscars for his film Oppenheimer. Ella Purnell, a relative newcomer, plays the lead role, while Walton Goggins portrays a mutant gunslinger and bounty hunter.
