Following Yorgos Lanthimos, Emma Stone and Poor Things’ incredible Oscars night, we found out on Thursday that June 21st, 2024 will be the release date for their next collaboration.
Kinds of Kindness is the fifth picture that Stone and Lanthimos will have worked on together. The film was described by Lanthimos as an upcoming anthology film based on a script he co-wrote with Efthimis Filippou. “A contemporary film, set in the US – three different stories, with four or five actors who play one part in each story”, said Yorgos. Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons, Willem Dafoe, and Margaret Qualley are some of the main actors. The movie is being distributed by Searchlight Pictures.
This news follows Poor Things performance at the Academy Awards on Sunday. Production and costume design were two of the four Academy Awards that the Searchlight-distributed movie took home. Remarkably, Poor Things has amassed more than $100 million globally. Given that viewers have expressed desire in seeing the two collaborate, it is obvious that Searchlight will encourage this coupling going forward. Perhaps this will set up Kinds of Kindness for another fantastic night at the 97th Academy Awards in 2025.
